Tour Guide at Clark University
Class of 2019
Hometown: Bristol, ME
Minor: Political Science
My favorite class at Clark is one I'm in currently called Small Scale Land Conservation. Every Friday we go hike a different conservation property in Western MA, and at the end of the semester every person will help write two monitoring reports for the properties to be submitted to the state government. It's a fascinating course, and an amazing opportunity to be involved in field work as an undergraduate.
The most meaningful place on campus for me is the Bickman Room in the Athletic Center. That room is the home of a lot of the different activities that I do on campus, like the Zumba and Yoga classes. I've also had dance practice there for the International Student Association's Gala, so I've spent a lot of my time in that room working out, dancing, and meeting people.
My favorite thing to do in Worcester is to eat- there are a huge number of awesome restaurants here, and you can get pretty much any kind of food that you could want. My personal favorite is Thai Time, on Highland Street.
Right now, I'm working on my Capstone project for my Geography major. During this past summer, I ran a nature center in Midcoast Maine and developed an environmental outreach and education for the local area. For my capstone, I am working with a professor in the department to write on how I developed this program and how it can be further developed in the future, taking from my experiences both in this work and in the Geography department at Clark.
